World of Tanks 7.0 (and 7.1 a short while later) introduces a whole swathe of new features. Universal Camouflage is going to let players tweak the look of their tanks, and, if they're on an appropriate stage, add a slightly higher chance to remain hidden. A tank with green camouflage may, for example, be harder to detect on a level with a lot of grass or trees, while a snow-camo tank would stay stealthy on one of the colder levels.

关于伪装,玩家可以自己DIY皮肤,如果皮肤色调和地图背景色调相近,那么伪装系数可以比原先提高一点。

There's a whole new nation of tanks coming with 7.1 as well with the inclusion of French armored vehicles. The French weren't exactly known for their military prowess, though I am informed that after the total whooping they got during World War II, they've made some powerful tanks with interesting technological advances. The tanks in World of Tanks stretch up to the Korean War era, by which time French tanks were very mobile and quick to aim their turrets. They also had automatic-loading cannons, which allow for fast successive fire at the cost of a long reloading time once the clip is empty. French tanks are designed to swoop in behind the enemy, quickly unload a series of shells, and race to safety to reload.

Even more exciting than new tanks, though, is the introduction of a couple new game types. To date, the only two win conditions for every single map was to either eliminate the entire enemy team or capture the enemy base. In 7.0, Wargaming.net is introducing escort missions, where one side is tasked with defending an objective and the other attacking it. The objective will be moving, which will hopefully do away with the camping that plagues many World of Tanks matches. Then there is a mode that lets players use a series of tanks from their garage within a single match -- like having a series of lives. These matches are designed to last longer than your usual match, as in somewhere within the vicinity of an hour.

Planes!

I had the opportunity to see World of Warplanes running recently. Although it was looking rough around the edges (there are still several months before Wargaming.net hopes to have it in closed beta), some serious potential for fun exists. Many of the mechanics that make World of Tanks so appealing -- the complex damage calculations, the opportunity to tactically aim for certain parts of the vehicle to deal critical damage to the engine or the crew, etc... -- are still present in its airborne counterpart.

Terrain also plays a big part with World of Warplanes. Although the server only cycled through simplistic, flat maps while I was there, I was told that there would be levels where players weave in-between skyscrapers and dive in and out of massive stony chasms. This should be music to the ears (Or, like, art to your eyes, as you're probably reading this. Unless someone is reading this toyou, in which case it is still ears!) for World of Tanks fans. Cleverly positioning your plane will still be important to the more tactical fighters out there. This extends to far above the ground, as well, where thick cloud-cover can potentially keep you hidden, or aligning yourself against the bright sun will make you tough to spot.

Wargaming.net isn't making a flight simulator, though, so there will be no cockpit view of the plane. You can zoom into first-person, but you won't see the control panel or anything -- just the usual game user-interface. There will also be no taking-off or landing phase to the gameplay. The intention is to throw players into aerial dog-fighting action from the get-go.

Maps will be limited to 30 players, with 15 players per side. According to Wargaming.net, it gets chaotic with that many planes flying around, and adding more to the mix risks turning that chaos into an experience that isn't so fun.

Like World of Tanks in patch 7.0, Warplanes will have multiple game modes, including Escort.
